You
How dare you.
You've left me here,
Alone.
You knew I needed you.
You knew I loved you.
But no.
You're selfish.
You're hateful.
You've gone on without me.
How long will I have to wait,
for you to come back?
Or will I have to come find you?
Of course I will.
You're selfish.
You won't let me have what I want.
You won't make this easy.
P.S - I don't know if a free verse poem was really what you were looking for, but I couldn't stop writing it once I started. It just kind of.. happened.
Analysis:
This poem is very stark, and very barren. The sentences are very short and choppy. There is no figurative language used in this poem at all. Both of these things add a sense of emptiness and a bitter realism to the poem. None of the words represent anything else, they are what they are. I think that really helps convey the message of loss felt by the person speaking.
Thank Michael, for an engaging poem.
